Can I use an external battery and AA batteries with the Sightmark Wraith HD? (SM18021/SM18011)

Yes. External batteries are able to be used with both the Wraith HD 2x and 4x magnification scopes. Doing so will not cause any harm to the unit. For optimal usage, it is recommended to have the external power source charged fully, as the scope will use the external power source, (when plugged in) until it is depleted, then will switch over to the alkaline batteries. When selecting an external battery, it is advised that you select one with a cord that is rated for 5 Volts. We recommend using our Quick Detach Battery Pack (SM28003).

The results are the same even when using rechargeable batteries over alkaline. The scope will first use the external power source before reverting to AA battery power.
