Maximizing Your Wraith's Battery Life
The Wraith series of digital riflescopes are a great optic for both daytime and night time use, and primarily for hunting both varmints and predators. Depending on the model of your unit, it may run on either four AA batteries for the HD series, two CR123A batteries for the 4k Mini, and an internal battery for the 4k Max. All of these scopes should have you out in the field for up to 6 hours using the scope and all its features. However, you may want to hunt longer into the night or all day. Below are some helpful tips to help you maximize your unit's battery life every time you are out in the field,
- Utilizing the "Sleep Mode" to save battery is one of the best ways to preserve battery life. If you have a Wraith HD series optic, holding down the "down" button on the directional pad will put the optic in sleep mode. a quick press of the power button will immediately boot the unit back on.
- You are able to use any type of AA battery with the HD series. Alkaline, Lithium, or rechargeable. We recommend using rechargeable so you reduce the amount of waste from disposable batteries, but all options work.
- An external power source can be used in conjunction with all of the Wraith scopes. Utilizing the Micro USB port (HD series) and Micro USB-C port (4k Max & Mini) you can plug into external power sources. We recommend using our Quick Detach Battery Pack (SM28003) adding up to 5 hours of battery life to your scope.
- Anything from our QD Battery to an outlet in your wall can power your Wraith independent of disposable batteries or the 4K Max's internal battery. As long as you have the proper USB cord, any battery bank can be used. Keep in mind that disconnecting the optic from the power source will shut off your scope in the absence of AA's or internal battery power. Many hunters prefer a small to mid-size battery that can connect to a picatinny rail for accessibility and convenience.
