Unable to see at Night with Digital Night Vision Device.
There are several reasons why someone may not be able to see anything through their digital night vision scope at night. Here is a quick checklist to ensure the device is set up correctly.
- Ensure the front lens cap is off.
- Ensure that the unit has Night Time mode active.
- FOR WRAITH HD (SM18011 & SM18021) AND WRAITH 4K MINI (SM18040 & SM18041) MODELS: Utilize the "left" button on the directional pad to toggle to black & white night vision mode or green night vision mode. The screen should turn black and white after hearing an auditory click. Hitting the left button once more will put the scope into green night vision mode.
- FOR WRAITH 4K MAX (SM18030) MODELS: Short press on the selection knob, scroll to the Sun/Moon icon and click to toggle to night vision mode. Once in night mode, the status bar should have a white or green, half-moon symbol in the bottom.
- Ensure the IR light is turned on and centered within the viewing screen of the scope. Keep in mind, IR light is not entirely visible to the human eye.
- Mount the IR light as close to muzzle end as possible to maximize visibility and detection range if your platform allows for it.
If the lens cap is not removed, the scope is not in night mode, and/or the IR light is not turned on, the wraith will not be able to see at night. Any combination of these events will also lead to a similar outcome. It is also important to know that the stock IR light has several different settings. As stated prior, IR light is not entirely visible to the human eye and as a result, it is common to forget to turn the IR light off. This will lead to dead batteries within the IR.
